Traffic.com provides digital, real-time accurate traffic reports online, over the phone and to the radio. They provide updates on average speeds, point-to-point travel times and traffic congestion (providing speed and distance influenced by car volume).

Challenge:
While Traffic.com has superior technology to their competition, they didn't have a very usable site, nor was their ability to provide great service reflected in their website design. Their competitors may not have had better technology but because their site was easier to use Traffic.com lost market share. They needed a showcase site to entice users to come to them over their competitors, the site should make users aware that Traffic.com could be their online destination for real-time, flexible, user-friendly traffic reports and road conditions.

Solution:
A user centered design process to used in the re-design of the Traffic.com site was paramount in deciding what features consumers would use, how Traffic.com would differentiate themselves from their competitors and how the users would like their traffic delivered. UX Designs provided a plan for the Focus groups, label tests, and prototyping that were used to understand user needs, perceptions and behaviors. In the end the team1 executed a world class design that sets Traffic.com apart from its competitors, emulates the Traffic.com brand, and puts the user at ease with the technology.
